So... Who is coming to FLUKE 2013 anyway?

It's getting pretty close to FLUKE 2013, and we're all pretty excited about that over here at FLUKE headquarters (an abandoned Hardee's in Lincolnton, GA). People in Athens should be seeing some posters going up for the event soon, and we'll be posting a .pdf of that poster for you to print out and hang all over wherever it is you live if that's the sort of thing you want to do.

So, it's time to tell you who has registered for this thing so far, so you'll know who you'll be seeing in the 40 Watt on April the 6th. Obviously, there could be last minute additions and subtractions to this list, but this is what it looks like as of the morning of March 14th, 2013. As always, we have attempted to provide a link to every sponsor and registrant's internet presence, but if we couldn't find anything online, we just made the name a link to a Youtube video of monster trucks. If you don't like the link we have provided for you, email Robert at secondperiod[at]gmail and he'll change it to whatever you want.

Oh, wait, did you want to read our press release?

Here is the OFFICIAL FLUKE 2013 press release.

Send it to every single person who has ever sent you an email. I'm sure they would love to read it.

Next week, we'll post a list of everyone who is registered for FLUKE 2013. It's a good looking group of people.

FLUKE is a mini-comic festival that has been organized by Athens-area comic artists, underground publishers and their enthusiasts since 2002. Conceived as a venue for the discussion and exchange of timely ideas related to mini-comics, ‘zines, and other independent publications, FLUKE is not a large comic convention or merchandising-saturated extravaganza. This isn't to say we don't like our share of stuff—'cause we do. However, we have kept the organization of the event as simple as possible to ensure that it remains focused on work and ideas rather than merchandising.

Look at this poster!

Hey, guys, check out this awesome FLUKE poster that our friend Box Brown made.

That thing looks so awesome. Box Brown and the FLUKE high council of elders will have a few prints of this thing for sale at FLUKE 2013 so you can hang one on your wall and look at it every day for the rest of forever.

As of right now, table spaces for FLUKE 2013 are SOLD OUT. There is a waiting list of 14 people. We will not have 14 spots. But don't let that scare you away from putting your name on the waiting list. Last year a few people who pre-registered for tables had to cancel their registration a few weeks before the show. We're not saying that's going to happen this year, but it might, we guess. If you want to get on the waiting list, email Robert at secondperiod [at]gmail.

Thanks, everyone. We'll see you in April!

FLUKE 2013 Registration is open!

Hi. We had a pretty good experience with taking pre-registrations for table space at FLUKE last year, so we're going to do it again.

If you want table space at FLUKE you can register for it now at Here are some things you should know before you register:

  • FLUKE 2013 is on April 6, 2013. The event is open to the public from 11:00am until 6:00pm.
  • FLUKE 2013 is at the 40 Watt Club, 285 West Washington Street, Athens, GA, 30601.
  • People who register for table space will be allowed into the club at least one hour early. Set-up is scheduled from 9:00-10:00am, but last year we were able to start letting exhibitors in at about 9:45.
  • Registration is $15. This entitles you to half of a six-foot table and one admission.
  • We don't assign spaces. You can sit wherever you want, so if there's a particular space you want to sit, show up to the 40 Watt early.
  • If you're bringing someone with you, it's totally okay for him or her to come in with you during the set up time. He or she will have to pay the general public entrance fee when they enter.
  • The general admission fee was $2.00 last year. It's probably going to be $2.00 again this year.
  • Your banners and other large stand-up displays shouldn't come to FLUKE with you. The 40 Watt is a pretty small space and no matter where you set up, your banner is going to block someone's view of some pretty cool stuff.
We're opening 60 spaces for registration today. We're holding back some space for sponsors, but we will most likely have spaces left over. When the 60 open spaces sell out, we'll start a waiting list and confirm with the people on that list sometime in March. FLUKE space sold out pretty quickly last year, but everyone on the waiting list was able to get a space before the event opened to the public. We can't guarantee that this will happen this year. We're just letting you know what happened last year.

So, if you're ready, click here and register for FLUKE 2013. Oh, and if none of this makes any sense to you at all, you can learn more about FLUKE and what it is by reading our press release from 2012, or this FLUKE 2012 report by Henry Eudy.
